Job Announcement - Board Members

 The Advocacy and Policy Institute

Recruitment of Boards Members

The Advocacy and Policy Institute (API) is a Cambodian non-profit and non-government organization whose mission is to serve the long term democratic and social development needs of Cambodia through supporting and empowering people to interact with their government to protect their rights and to provide for the needs of themselves and their communities, particularly poor, minority and marginalised peoples.

API has become one of Cambodia’s leading advocacy capacity-building institutions, while also heading the campaign for a law on public access to information and information disclosure. The organisation earns its reputation by: delivering effective advocacy training courses for civil society, community-based organizations (CBOs) and local government; promoting access to public information; strengthening local governance; and supporting civil society networks to successfully collaborate and influence the Government and Parliament to be more accountable and to take action on critical issues. The organisation is increasingly involved in direct advocacy and policy activities.

The Advocacy and Policy Institute seeks interested people who wish to serve as  members of its Board of Directors. Board member responsibilities include: approving and overseeing the mission, goals and strategic plans of API; approving and monitoring the finances of API; and supporting the API Director to ensure that API achieves its commitments to donors, civil society, and beneficiaries. API board members must have a strong commitment to support API’s mission, and to work within the framework of API’s Board policy.  This is voluntary work and requires attending at least two meetings in Phnom Penh per year, as well as being available to advise the Director on issues of importance to API as needed and in a timely manner.

People with experience relevant to the above Board Member responsibilities who can also provide high performance as a team member, as well as individual initiative, professionalism, and ethics are highly encouraged to apply.
API has played a critical role in achieving goals of democratisation, participation, good governance, poverty reduction, social accountability and development.   This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to its progress and success.

If you are interested in joining API's Board, please send a short motivation letter and your detailed resume before 24 March 2017 addressing to Mr. Chea Vantha, Director of API on our general email: This email address is being protected from spambots.
