iMAP State of Internet Censorship
The Advocacy and Policy Institute (API) is a Cambodian non-profit and nongovernment organization which has a mission to serve the long-term democratic and social development needs of Cambodia through the provision of services in the areas of advocacy and policy development. APIoandorsquo;s overall objective is to contribute to poverty reduction and the promotion and better protection of rights and voices, particularly for young people, women, and vulnerable people. API seeks to achieve this by promoting a culture of public information disclosure, strengthening democratic participation and transparency and accountability within the Decentralization and De-concentration framework in Cambodia, particularly in targeted Commune and District Councils, and advocating for equitable and sustainable public policy actions.
As the ING will be controlled by the Government, the international gateway to access the URLs and data security will be managed. Furthermore, the digital right of people in Cambodia have limited on the online freedom idea expression. API, CCIM an CamboJA lead to conduct the training 3 days (18th,19th and 20th July 2022) at POULO WAI Hotel on the topic A2I, Digital Security, Internet Censorship, Advocacy and Planning (facilitated by API), Digital right (facilitated by CCIM), Internet Freedom (facilitated by CamboJA). API will invite 25 participants from the digital working group and are fully accountable on the budget payment for the 3 days training.
The objective is to monitors the Cambodia internet censorship in viewing the website status (access / unaccusable by website blocked or technical issue) by using OONI tools and the report is the part of the document in demanding the rights and standard of the international human rights/digital rights of good practice in human rights/digital rights in the comparison to the Cambodianoandorsquo;s legal framework of the government in its ecosystem of the digital development policy for awareness raising and well inform to all the Cambodian CSOs and the related party for positive change. At the end of the training, participants able to elaborate the meaning of the access to information, international principles, aspects of the Cambodian draft A2I law and the roles of technology in promoting the public information.
