Giovanni Porta, European citizen, is a Professional NGO manager, seconded by the German CPS Program to API as an International Advisor.

Giovanni has a BA in Political Sciences/International Relations from Milan’s State University, with full marks cum laude. After perfecting his English in the United States, he started working as a journalist with the Foreign Affairs Desk of the leading Italian weekly newsmagazine “Panorama” . For the magazine, he covered wars and post-conflict areas (Bosnia, Kosovo, Lebanon, former USSR). He then moved to the leading Italian independent radio network, where he covered foreign news. After 11 years in journalism, he decided to accept the position of Spokesperson with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE)’s mission in Albania. For the OSCE, he also worked as Head of Media Department in the mission to Serbia and Montenegro. After these experiences, Giovanni moved to the NGO sector, working as Project Officer, Programme Manager, Director of Operations, Country Director and Regional Director, in various countries of Africa, Eastern Europe, South and South East Asia, for INGOs like MSF, ZOA Refugee Care, PIN, ACF. In 2009, Giovanni moved to Indonesia, where he has lived 15 years. In 2019, he started working for the German Foundation Brot für die Welt, supporting several BfdW local partners in Indonesia. In 2024 he was seconded by the CPS/BfdW Program to API in Cambodia, where he supports the organization with cross-cutting issues and capacity building.
