API Launch Event 2026: Connecting for Loal Impact through Innovation and Partnership

| 9-April-2026

The Advocacy and Policy Institute (API) successfully convened around 100 key stakeholders at the API Launch Event 2026: Connecting for Local Impact through Innovation and Partnership, held on 30 March 2026 at the Novotel Hotel. The event brought together representatives from embassies, development partners, civil society organizations, private companies and business associations, the Change the Game Academy network and alumni, and university leaders. It served as a platform for networking, exchange, and partnership building across Cambodia’s development landscape.
The event was opened with remarks from Mr. Chandara Soeurng, Chairman of the API Board of Directors, followed by key program highlights from Mr. Sou Sokkung, Head of Program at WaterAid Cambodia, as well as highlights from IMPACT Program presented by Mr. San Mos, Program Manager at Mission Alliance.

The event marked an important milestone in API’s institutional journey through the official launch of API’s Strategic Plan 2025–2028, which presents API’s renewed direction for the 2026–2028 implementation period and reflects a participatory revision process involving staff, partners, government representatives, and community stakeholders. API also officially introduced API Development Consulting, its social enterprise and service platform providing consulting, training, and related professional support.
More than a ceremonial launch, the event served as a strategic platform for API to showcase multiple projects, services, and digital innovations that create practical entry points for collaboration.

These included the Change the Game Academy, #Pidor Facebook #Chatbot, #GenSEA Climate Academy, Citizen Budget App, Online M&E System, and #Roksi, alongside partner-supported initiatives in #WASH, civic engagement, #climate action, monitoring and evaluation, and support for informal businesses. Together, these presentations highlighted the different ways stakeholders can work with API through joint programming, technical cooperation, research, training, innovation, service uptake, and business partnership.

The event reaffirmed API’s commitment to working with partners to advance inclusive development, strengthen civic engagement, and generate practical solutions that respond to Cambodia’s evolving needs. It also created space for new conversations and future collaboration among stakeholders from the development, academic, civil society, and private sectors.
The event was organized by the Advocacy and Policy Institute (API) and API Development Consulting, with valued support from the European Union in Cambodia, Oxfam in Cambodia, Sida, WaterAid Cambodia, Mission Alliance Cambodia, Wilde Ganzen, and Change the Game Academy. As API moves forward with its new strategic direction, the organization looks forward to strengthening partnerships and expanding collaboration to generate greater local impact across Cambodia.
