New CAFs Learn About Social Accountability

In the second week of August 2021, our digital ISAF team conducted the 5-day online training course on social accountability for almost 40 new community accountability facilitators (CAFs) in the province of Steung Traeng. These young adults, most of whom are women, now have the capacity to solve the problems related to the social accountability fieldwork and organise outreach activities aimed at disclosing information on citizens’ rights and public budgets. Our trainers explained the roles of state and non-state actors in public decision-making processes, taught the CAFs the basics of social mapping, and encouraged them to mobilise all local stakeholders to participate in monitoring decisions by local authorities and local public service providers. This activity is part of our EU-funded project dedicated to digital innovations in social accountability, which is jointly implemented by API, CARE, InSTEDD and local partner organisations.
